Subject: Drivers Licenses Part III of at Least IV
Message:

Yesterday we concluded our day at the transit police station with "no hay sistema" (network down). We were sent on our way and told to come back tomorrow. After gritting my teeth and emitting steam from my ears I asked if we both needed to come back since we had all the paperwork done. Understand this one basic principle of life in Central America: you will always be told what you want to hear. The answer is that no, we both did not need to return. One of us could complete the process and get both our licenses.      So this morning Paula stepped forward realizing that I had no intention of returning to Tegucigalpa in this lifetime. She drove to town and rode a bus with Rolman to Tegucigalpa. She felt safer riding a bus than driving (amazing considering all the buses that drive off the mountain cliffs here). She left Siguatepeque around 7:30 and arrived this morning in Tegucigalpa at the police station around 10 AM. She quickly called me after and told me that she could not get my license. I would need to come and take additional photos and give more thumb prints than was already done yesterday.      So return I must to the very place I hoped to avoid this millennium. I suppose immigrants in America jump through a lot of the same hoops but seldom "no hay sistema".
