Genesis 1:27-28 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground." ********************************************************** You know, the above statement was not a tough command to follow. We certainly have no problem being fruitful and multiplying. :-) Anyway, "fill the earth and subdue it" takes on new meaning in the Christian age. Man is fallen. We need to be redeemed by submitting to Christ and letting His Holy Spirit guide our lives. On a more physical level, we Christians need to fill the earth, occupy and keep evil in check. Last week there was a blitzkrieg of crime in our community. In one night, thieves slaughtered 15 cows, robbed four homes, including two unoccupied homes across the street from here, and tried to break in the small house on our property. I think the key here is that the homes were not occupied. However, our home is very much occupied. Nevertheless, the thieves did not hesitate to attempt our home as well as neighbors' home (also occupied). We live close to unoccupied territory, therefore we are at risk. With all the money invested in livestock, it would have been a huge loss had they succeeded in leading our cows out of the hole they cut in the fence. On a personal level, we have got to completely turn over our lives to the will of God. If we hold back some portion of our hearts (be it greed, be it envy, pride, lust, whatever), we give the enemy a foothold to bring in other evil. Matthew 22:36-38 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. If we completely give our heart, soul and mind to the Lord, we are safe from the traps of the enemy. He has nowhere to go in our lives. Sure, things can happen to us. We can get sick. Our children can suffer or rebel, but we will not be given over to evil. Occupy, occupy...
