Subject: re: John and I....

Thank you for the reply Brenda, We are so thankful that the surgery went smoothly for Dana.  We are praying for him to recover quickly and that his strength will be renewed, also that he can lay low for the time he needs to.   I have not heard from Heal the Children.  What I do have is this..... a hospital in Atlanta will pay to have Gerardo and the donor fly into the states, they will do the transplant, and then pay to send them both back.  We just have to make the commitment and show that we can pay for the antirejection drugs for the rest of his life, $1200 a month.  So after we got all that offered, I talked with the drs. here at the hospital to see if they could continue the care after the transplant in the states, and do they have the antirejection meds here in Honduras.  Yes, they will continue his care, yes they have the meds, and they are much cheaper here.  The only difference here is they make a closer match because of the lack of the antirejection drugs.  Anyway, very long story short, we are moving forward with testing for a donor and will take it from there.  I will begin the paperwork to get Gerardo a medical visa, etc.    Thank you for asking Brenda.   You are a blessing and we love you, Paula
