Subject: Latest Transplant News

There is some definite movement on the transplant front although honestly we were beginning to resign ourselves to the fact that the transplant was not going to happen. Paula and I had just discussed borrowing the money to pay for the tests and transplant. We simply could not take the thought of endless dialysis for Gerardo, whom has not been able to attend school since his kidney failure began. Anybody who knows me very well knows that I carry debt around like a cinder block necklace. It absolutely stresses me out.

Thankfully His yoke is easy and His burden is light. Tonight Antonio and Gerardo returned from dialysis and said Gerardo's transplant is scheduled for Wednesday. So many times we have had to give things up here in our hearts and spirit, only to have the Lord give the things back and more.

There is a caveat. The hospital is demanding that Gerardo stay in Tegucigalpa for three months or more following the transplant. He needs to return to the hospital daily for tests. We live three hours from Tegucigalpa, so it means we are not going to see him much until the end of the year. Right now we are trying to find a decent place for him to stay at. The hospital suggested the IHNFA center, which is a shelter to hundreds of homeless children. The place is not only dirty, but the only law is the law of the jungle. There is very little adult supervision, almost like a juvenile detention center. Every child deserves better than that so we are praying that something comes up for Gerardo. He cannot stay at the center!

Some other great news; I am currently working with former co-worker at the company he works for. The wages are good enough to fund our home as long as I have the contract. The contract has been basically for ten days at a time, but they just extended it a bit more. We were honestly getting to the bottom of our reserves before this came along.  He supplies for our needs, even when we doubt. I am so thankful God cares for us and the children beyond what my faith believes. God is good!
