Subject: New Arrivals

Today Paula and I went to the court house and obtained custody of two cute little girls; Daniella is 6 and Carolina is 4.  Photos are forthcoming. Daniella was eager to fit into the family and hugged Paula as soon as she met her. Carolina is still scared. I'm sure it's been a whirlwhind of a week for her.

We know a little of the story, but it's not clear yet. The girls lived with their parents; mother and step-father we think. The mother was not mentally stable. She kept the children outside, day and night. There are still two more that are not yet here. They have two brothers: four months old and three years old. The brothers are staying with some friends of ours but should be here this week some time. Kory, the house mother at the older home here, remembers the children. They once came to our church years ago, with their mother.

This was the first time we've brought in new children since moving to Honduras. We marked our fifth anniversary here a couple days ago. To me, it's a very scary thing bringing in children and taking on the responsibility for them. We take it very seriously and consider it a lifelong commitment. Our children have take it very well and overall seem happy to help more children. I'm so proud of them for gladly sharing their home and family with others in need.
