Our departure date is less than six weeks away now. We are making preparations. We are also trying to get this web site ready for our friends and family, whom should start receiving our letters today. (The letter mentions this web site.) This morning I was riding the train to work and just reflecting on how many good things the Lord has done for us. I began to pray and then the Lord gave me a little insight about prayer. If you've read the Gospels, you know that the Lord would seek a quiet place away from the crowds to pray. He impressed upon my heart that he really needed some time with his dad. When my father lived, he was the man I would go to with every serious life question and concern I had. I called him on the phone most every day. We drove four hours to his ranch as often as we could. We hunted together. We fished together. He practically raised me on the company hunting lease and fishing near Rockport, TX. We always enjoyed tromping around his ranch, trying to sneak up on the deer or shooing the cattle away from the deer feeder. We made sausage together and cooked a lot. Those are the times I remember most anyway. As much as I loved him, he was not even perfect. Our father in Heaven is perfect. How many memories has he created for us? How many times has he been there and we were oblivious? Please remember the Lord and how he has been good to you. Also remember that every law and command written in the Word was for our sake, not his. The Bible is simply the owner's manual for the human heart. It was not written for the Lord's benefit, it was written for our sake.
