Subject: Internal Clock

John and I needed to get some things done this morning after taking the kids to the bus stop at 7 AM. So onward we drove to the bustling metropolis of Siguatepeque. We drove straight to the mechanic shop, because we knew that nobody else would open before 8 AM.

7:15: We parked in front of the mechanic's living room door. We talked, and waited.

7:30: We talked some more.

7:45: We talked a bit more.

8:15: There still were no signs of life from the mechanic. We drove on to the bank branch that has longest hours in the city, to find that they open at 9 AM.

8:30: We drove by the coffee and donut shop, to see it still locked down with rolling metal doors.

8:40: Mechanic was awake, standing outside his front door. I returned the truck to him and said it had the same problem he "fixed" two weeks ago, in the most polite manner I could muster.

8:45: Walked back to the coffee shop and waited outside.

8:50: Coffee shop owner opened the doors early and let me in.

It might be more than jet lag that has me waking up four hours before anyone starts working, seeing as how we've had 9 years, 11 months and 3 weeks to adjust.
