Subject: Not really an update

Some mornings you just wonder.  One of your kiddos goes out the door and you know that something is not right, but you have no idea what it was.  It could be something as small as the egg not being cooked to perfection, or the banana had too many spots.  But when she purses those lips just that way, I know in my skin that there was a lie in the night or a thought gone amuck.  I scan through the morning to remember my behavior; did I have a scowl or a frown when a smile or hug was needed?  Nope, not to my knowing.  Were the portions all equal so that jealousy and victim had no voice?  Yep, to my knowing.  I give the kiss, the prayer, and close the door behind her, wondering what ate her joy and peace.  Some mornings are like that, and I am thankful that a God of mercy, compassion, and justice holds that girl.
