Subject: Breaking the Silence

Sadly, this is our first journal of the year. Honestly, the work load of my job has increased, as well as oversight of chocolate, so journaling has fallen by the wayside. Beyond that, we had to change hosting of the web site to a cheaper hosting solution, so we lost the capability of inserting photos in our journals. Our Facebook page seems to have a lot more followers, and we can post photos there, so...

I realize some people have strong feelings against Facebook, and I understand that.

We appreciate the people who are still supporting the children here. It's not just the children living with us, but the 30 children who come to tutoring twice a week as well. Aside from catching the children up on reading and math, they are taught the Gospel, and also given a nutritious meal.

Paula and I will tell you, as we tell each other, without hesitation, we are not good marketers, nor are we cut out for management. I'm sure other people, with different skill sets, could really hype this place up. That's just not what we do, and have no desire to do so. If I need to work 14 hours per day programming a computer to keep our outreach going, that's what I'll do, rather than asking for support. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with asking for donations. For most missions, donations are an absolute necessity. We could certainly do more, with more, but we'd rather focus on what we can do, rather than what we could do.

That's my Socrates for the day, or for the past six months.

Lord bless ye,

Mark C.
