Subject: Tuesday Update

Hannah and I made it back, our luggage a few days later.  We are very thankful to those who prayed and supported us during our journey.  Hannah is doing well.  She is getting used to her mouth appliance and has had no problems so far.  Right now she is making bagels using fresh ground wheat.  She ground it with our hand grinder!   Everyone is very happy to be back together.  While I was gone all of the boys started back to school.  Mark continued schooling ours while I was gone. So this week we started back into the school routine.  That means the first rounds leaves at 5:30 to catch the bus for collegio (jr. high and high school).  That is Rolman, David, and Elvis.  Then the next boys leave at 6:45 for Destino Del Reino, also Gerardo and Fernando at this time get to their school here on the mountain.  We start our school at 7:30 after everyone leaves, and we get a few chores done.  Timothy is in Kindergarden, Faith in 3rd., John in 5th, and Hannah in 7th.   Mark did a great job keeping everything on schedule and going strong.   Right now it is pretty warm in the days, still nice in the evenings.  We have been getting a little rain about 2-3 times a week.  We have planted many different things in the garden now that we are able to water.  We have cabbage, beets, carrots, lettuce, spinach, green beans, sugar snap peas, zucchini and squash.  Soon we will have potatoes, onions, tomatoes, and more started.  After school everyone helps out for a couple of hours in the garden and with various farm chores.   Rolman and David are having a hard time in collegio.  They are in 7th grade in a private school, because there is not really a public school.  The education they had prior to this has not prepared them for what they are doing now.  David is working very hard, studying and giving it his all.  Unfortunately Rolman is enjoying the social part way too much, and the freedom of being in town.  He has some decisions to make.  Pray for him that he will see the value of an education and not waste this opportunity.  Elvis is doing wonderful.   Ely is also having a hard time in school.  He is in prepatoria, and he is 8 years old. Last year was his first year to attend school.  He has many developmental challenges and will have to repeat this year.  I know he is so smart.  Malnourishment, abuse, and neglect have stolen many things from him.  I am praying to see a breakthrough for this child.  We love him so much, and at the same time want to wring his neck!!!!  Pray for us that we will know exactly the steps to take to help him the most and that the horrible sins that have been done against him will not rule his life.   Reynaldo is working so hard in prepatoria.  He will pass to 1st grade.  He is so conscientous.  He is so excited when he comes home and can tell me that he didn't have an accident in his pants and that he did not kiss anyone (yes he has been in trouble for giving affection!).  He is still very quiet.  We pray daily for him to be able to release the pain and use his words to express himself.  His smile will melt you.   Arnol will return to 1st. grade again when school starts.  The little guys all go on a North American school schedule.  He is smart as a whip, and is only 5.  So it will benefit him to return to 1st grade as long as he can be challenged.   I will start back volunteering at the little guys school teaching English.   So everything is back to as normal as it gets around here!   Paula
